FABULOUS!!! I especially like the interview with Charlotte, my favorite.
But it's all good. :)--MJack Applebaum 01/Jan/2002:23:13:50 I have a lot of positive memories associated with this superb series
and I cannot understand why it has not found a place back on air in
recent years. Is there a legal of commercial block or is it just the
fact that the concept does not fit into a typical format slot?
No broadcaster since Verity has been bold enough to commission such an
abitious musical drama (except perhaps for the works of Dennis Potter),
despite the success of this relatively low-budget series.
Gerald Marriott 15/Nov/2001:22:07:35 Fell in love with the little ladies way back when first shown, especially

changes were happening.
I remember very well rushing home in order not to miss one second of
any episode.
I have never before, or after been addicted to a TV show.
I still have "Rock Follies of 77" on vinyl (my ex-wife took the other
one)
I have just ordered the re release of both albums on CD.
I loved the show and wold give anything to get both series on video.

this site. Have great memories of watching "Rock Follies" when I was
living and working in London during the '70's. It's haunted me ever
since. Have driven Canadian friends (who never saw the series, poor
things) crazy, and nearly worn out the LP's. Wonderful series. Why on
earth hasn't it been released on video or DVD? "Rock Follies" lives.
May all the Gods be praised.
Robb MarshJudy 03/Sep/2001:03:07:05 First (and only) seen on PBS in NY -- I loved it, my kids loved, and we
all wore the records out. Have never seen '77 -- how can we get this
in California?Therese 30/Aug/2001:00:03:17 Rock Follies was one of the first albums I bought - I was about 13 when
the show aired for the first time here in Australia. My friends and I
used to know all of the words to all of the songs by heart. Alas I
didn't have a turntable for a long time when CD players came on the
market and my vinyl albums gathered dust for over 10 years. My husband
recently got hold of a turntable and I put on the Rock Follies again.
I was just amazed at how good the songs are - and found myself singing
along; hadn't forgotten the words. So thought I'd have a browse on the
web to see if anything was here and found this website. Good one! Any
likelihood of the Rock Follies series coming out on DVD?Susan Siniawsky 08/Aug/2001:01:29:40 Thank you for this site! I have very fond memories of Rock Follies. I
saw it on the Washington, D.C. PBS station more thaan twenty years ago

are the Little Ladies doing now. Are they Little Grannys?charlotte Cornwell 05/Apr/2001:08:18:18 Hi there
Just to say "thank you" for taking the trouble to set this up.Browsing
through the site brought back so many memories, and quite a few laughs!
No-one can understand why it was never shown again - the ICA ran both
series during a TV retrospective and it sold out immediately, so there
is an audience. Even here in the US, people remember it!
thanks again,

Hi Follies Fans,
needles to say I was in heaven when virgin decided to release the two
excellent albums on CD. My vinyl copies were getting pretty worn out.
Im completely at a loss as to why this highly inovative series has
NEVER been repeated in the UK. I called Thames TV in London (now known
as Pearson TV) the other day to find out the reason why. They said
that a series is usually repeated or released on video due to popular
demand. SO START DEMANDING GUYSDonna Jennings 20/Mar/2001:00:04:15 I have just visited your site and am so surprised to find that there are other people who love Rock Follies and Julie Covington as much as I do, I will be coming back for more! Has anybody recorded any episodes from Rock Follies that they can sell me - I haven't had my Follies fix since 1977!
David Edge The Warwick Holiday Flats - Blackpool. 19/Mar/2001:18:09:49 I remember the series in the 1970s, but why they can't get around
getting the series on DVD or repeated on Tv I'll never understand.

Manchester for an interview. The bath -&- shower room next door to the
pub where I was staying caught fire during the night. There was no-
one but mw in the T.V. room - so I could choose what I wanted on the
T.V. - what is this new series called Rock Follies - I'll give it a
go. It is still one of my all-time T.V. favourites.
I've been having a hell of a time downloading mp3 files from Napster -
but at least I see there are cd's available. Now all we need are the
videos.
This site certainly has it all - now Glen Miller is no longer missing
in my lifeAnthony Rollie 28/Dec/2000:20:09:06 Hi ho,
Julie, Rula and Charlotte...your performances in Rock Follies were and
are most appreciated. I have seen the follies only twice...last in the
70's....yet the impression that was stamped on my memories of it was so
strong that it seems much more recent to me.
Julie, your performance as Dee as well as your singing was the most
sincere delivery ever. No praise is going to be high enough to match
the gift you gave to all of us in audience. No one wanted it more or
tried harder than Dee and few were hurt as much.
Julie, I loved you then and find that nothing has since changed.
God spped,

I have been a fan of Rock Follies since 1976,age 14, particularly Julie
Covington!!!! I have just seen an interview with Julie Covington on
Channel Four as part of a programme about the top bands/singers of 1977,
she was no.8. She's still amazing. I also watched Charlotte Cornwell in
a drama, "Care" on BBC1 a few weeks ago.Tracey 03/Nov/2000:00:35:36 Just received my C.D of Rock Follies, still awaiting delivery of '77.
Can put the vinyls away safely now. All we need now is all the episodes
releasing on video or even transmitted???? then heaven... Ever hopeful

tape.

Just to avoid confusion, maybe I should tell you that the DAT recording
was made directly from the TV-broadcast. By CD-quality I mean "as good
as it gets". OK?
Thanks, and bye bye
JohanJohan Jämtberg 24/Sep/2000:05:24:30 Hi everyone!
It´s great to see that some people still remember Rock Follies.
I was about 8 years old when I saw the show for the first time, and I
didn´t listen to any other records for about two or three years.
In 1995 the show was re-runned here in Sweden and I managed to get it
on video (except for episode 1 and 2). I´d really like to get a hold of
those two first episodes on video as well. Anyone wanna trade? I have
the unreleased songs (Such as "In my cans" and "Territory") recorded on
DAT-tape. (Same quality as CD)
Anyway I´d like to thank Julie Covington, Charlotte Cornwell, Rula
Lenska, Sue Jones-Davies, Howard Schuman, Andy Mackay, Beth Porter and
all the others for the music and a great TV-show that made my childhood
rock.
Take care / Johan

Interesting note: I'm a writer by profession and after listening to their song Glen Miller Is Missing, I wrote one of the best articles ever ... on how I waited up all night to hear the radio news of Miller's whereabouts. Name: Bob Pliskin City: White Plains, NY Country: USA Homepage: http:// Comments: I loved the first series for it's script, for it's production values, for it's direction, for the skills of the actors, for it's editing, and all it's other elements. It's message was such a positive one re: the human spirit and was skillfully portrayed. With it's avant garde video techniques it raised video production to the highest level of art. Name: rose Dempsey City: cocoa, Florida Country: USA Homepage: http:// Comments: oh man, i have shivers running down my spine. i just got here via the julie Covington page, and that becasue i have a friend who claims Madonna can't do Evita the way The original Patti Lupone does, and i've said no, our julie did it first. Then to find this page. oh it's wonderful, I loved rock follies. If it gets back on the screen there, try to get the Public tv stations over here to carry it. i really don't think the music is dated at all. it would be wonderful - believe it or not, my sis still has the album, and we've often reminisced about the show. Dee was alwasy my favourite, she was so much like me in ways. it was like a mirror to the soul. Hi Rula and charlotte too, even though I'm a Julie fan I still love you too. rose Date: 20:58:48, November 12
